Policy version 2026-10-15. This policy explains how CampGuide Inc ("CampGuide," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the booking pages, checkout, Stay Pass, online shops and property websites we operate for every kind of property that uses CampGuide, the choices you have, and how we record them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
CampGuide is operated by CampGuide Inc, a Delaware corporation, at 8 The Green, STE B, Dover, Delaware 19901. You can reach us at support@campguide.app. Our full contact details are in Section 13.
This policy covers the guest-facing pages CampGuide runs for every kind of property that uses CampGuide, wherever they are served from. That includes campgrounds, RV parks, marinas, storage facilities, golf courses and mobile home communities; vacation rentals, whether one listing or many; cabin and cottage resorts, glamping resorts, and treehouse and tiny house villages; farm stays, outfitter lodges, retreat centers, group camps, and event and wedding venues; motels, hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts; resort condos; hostels; and any other kind of property or business that takes bookings or sells through CampGuide, whether or not it is named here. In this policy, "park" means any of them, and "stay" includes a site, room, bed, cabin, unit or other booking. The pages include:
- each park's booking page and checkout at campguide.app/<park> and campguide.app/book/<park>, including room, bed, unit, storage, boat slip, day pass, event and membership booking, and the step that asks what you are booking
- storefront pages that show several of one business's listings together, at campguide.app/b/<business>, including trip pages that book more than one listing
- a park's online shop, its cart, checkout and order status pages
- the booking widget a park places on its own website, and the checkout it opens
- the guest Stay Pass, including trip updates, the park guide and in-stay payments
- park websites built on CampGuide, on a park's own domain, on a park address we provide, and at campguide.app/w/<park>
- event, gathering and member pages, scan-to-buy pages, waitlist and payment link pages, identity check pages, long-stay application pages, group links to claim a bed or room, and wallet pass downloads that a park sends you
It does not cover our marketing site at software.campguide.app (described in the Privacy Policy), the CampGuide Host operator console and the pages used by park staff, outside cleaners and property owners, or our mobile apps.
2. Our roles
CampGuide operates the booking technology on behalf of each park. The park is responsible for its own business, for the bookings it accepts, and for any tools it adds to its own website outside CampGuide. For guest information a park manages through CampGuide, the park is the controller and CampGuide acts as its service provider, as explained in Section 2 of our Privacy Policy.
For the cookie choices described here, CampGuide runs the consent banner, keeps the record of your choice, and makes sure nothing optional loads until you allow it. When a park adds its own advertising or measurement tags to a website it builds on CampGuide, the park decides to use them and is responsible for how the advertising services that receive the data use it; we load those tags only after you allow Marketing cookies on that website. A park's own website that is not built on CampGuide is outside this policy, even when it shows our booking widget; that website's own cookie notice applies to it.
3. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Websites also use other ways to keep information on your device or to load content from other services. In this policy we treat all of the following the same way, and the same consent rules apply to each:
- cookies, set by our pages (first party) or by another service whose content loads on our pages (third party)
- local storage and session storage, which keep small values in your browser, session storage only until you close the tab
- IndexedDB and cache storage, which keep larger data such as an offline copy of your park guide
- pixels, tags and software development kits, pieces of code from another service that load when a page opens and may send information about your visit to that service
- requests to other services, for example to load a font or a video player, which send that service your IP address and the address of the page
4. The cookies and technologies we use
The tables below list everything that can be used on the pages this policy covers, grouped by category. The names in the first column describe each item; where an item's technical name says nothing about who provides it, we show that name in parentheses. Durations are the longest an item can last; many are removed sooner.
4.1 Strictly necessary
Needed to run the booking you ask for: search, checkout, payment, fraud prevention, security and remembering this choice. These are always on.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Type | Party | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cookie choice (cg_consent) | Remembers your cookie choice for this website, the policy version you saw and an anonymous consent id, so we do not ask again on every page. | Strictly necessary | Local storage | First party | 12 months, then we ask again |
| Checkout recovery (cg:booking-checkout:<park>) | Keeps your in-progress payment so the checkout can finish when the bank sends you back after a security check. | Strictly necessary | Session storage | First party | Until the tab closes or the payment finishes |
| Food order cart (campguide.dining-cart.<version>.<park>.<venue>) | Holds the items in a food order you are building so they survive a page reload. | Strictly necessary | Local storage | First party | 24 hours |
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in to your CampGuide account or Stay Pass after you choose to sign in. | Strictly necessary | Local storage | First party | Until you sign out, refreshed while you use the site |
| Sign-in device check (campguide.device_id) | A random id used only to warn you by email when your account is signed in from a new device. | Strictly necessary | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Member area session (cgm-<park>) | Keeps you signed in to a park's member area after you sign in with an emailed code. It cannot be read by page scripts. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | First party | 14 days |
| Park test booking pass (cg_test_booking) | Lets park staff run a test booking from their setup checklist without charging a card. It cannot be read by page scripts. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | First party | 1 hour |
| Signed-in routing hint (cg_sh) | Tells our server that this browser has a signed-in account so the home address opens your account instead of our marketing page. It carries no identity. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | First party | 1 year, removed at sign-out |
| Update reload guard (cg_preload_reloaded) | Reloads the page once when we release an update while your tab is open, and stops it reloading more than once. | Strictly necessary | Session storage | First party | Until the tab closes |
| Payment fraud prevention | Set by our payment processor's fraud prevention when the payment form loads, to recognize the device and spot fraudulent card use. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | Third party | Up to 1 year (device), 30 minutes (session) |
| Payment processor device cookie | Set on our payment processor's own domain by its fraud prevention when the payment form loads. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | Third party | Up to 13 months |
| Payment processor frame storage | Temporary values kept inside our payment processor's own fraud prevention frame while the payment form is open. | Strictly necessary | Session storage | Third party | Until the tab closes |
| Security and bot protection | Set by our hosting and security network after a security check, to tell real visitors from automated attacks. | Strictly necessary | Cookie | Third party | 30 minutes to 1 year |
| CampGuide booking service | Serves the booking pages themselves. | Strictly necessary | Network request | First party | Not stored |
| Booking database service | Our hosted database and sign-in service, which answers availability, pricing and booking requests. | Strictly necessary | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
| Payment form and fraud checks | Our payment processor's card form, bank security check and fraud prevention. Loaded only when a payment form is shown. | Strictly necessary | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
| Security check widget | The automated security check shown before a booking is submitted, to block bots. | Strictly necessary | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
| Error reports | Sends a report to an error monitoring service when a page breaks, with personal details and links removed. Before you opt in to analytics it stores nothing in your browser and records no session. | Strictly necessary | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
4.2 Functional
Remember choices you make, such as checklist ticks, a dismissed prompt or a chat you started, and load optional content such as display fonts and embedded videos.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Type | Party | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Icon font ready (cg-icon-font-v1) | Remembers that the icon font is already downloaded so icons appear without a fade on later visits. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Scroll position (tsr-scroll-restoration-v1_3) | Remembers how far down each page you had scrolled, so the back button returns you to the same place after a reload. | Functional | Session storage | First party | Until the tab closes |
| Rig length unit (cg-booking-v2-length-unit) | Remembers whether you measure your rig in feet or meters. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Checkout checklist ticks (sp-checklist-<reservation>) | Remembers which departure checklist items you ticked in Stay Pass. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Guidebook checklist ticks (cg:guide-checklist:<block>) | Remembers which checklist items you ticked in a park guidebook. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Offline guide copy (campguide-guide-cache) | Keeps the last copy of your park guide on your device so it opens with a weak signal. | Functional | IndexedDB | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Offline Stay Pass app (stay-hub-<build>, stay-hub-guide-assets) | Lets Stay Pass open without a connection by keeping its pages and guide images on your device. | Functional | Cache storage | First party | Until the next app update or until you clear site data |
| Chat conversation key (cg_reception_visitor_key) | Lets you return to a chat you started with a park. Without it the chat still works for the current page. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Promotion shown (cg_promo_popup_last_shown:<park>) | Remembers when a park's promotion was last shown so it does not keep reappearing. | Functional | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Display fonts | Loads some pages' display typefaces from a font service. Without it the page uses fonts already on your device. | Functional | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
| Embedded video players | Plays videos a park adds to its guidebook, using video services in their privacy-enhanced modes. The player can keep its own settings in your browser once it plays. | Functional | Network request | Third party | Set by the video service, up to 6 months |
4.3 Analytics and performance
Help us understand how booking pages are used and where they break, including page performance measurement and anonymized session recordings.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Type | Party | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Search session (cg:search-session:<park>) | A random id that lets us count repeated date searches on one device as one search when measuring demand. Only a one-way hash of it is sent. | Analytics and performance | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Booking steps session (cg:funnel-session:<park>) | A random id that links the booking steps you reach so we can see where bookings stall. Only a one-way hash of it is sent. | Analytics and performance | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Checkout progress session (cg:checkout-session:<park>) | A random id that keeps one record of an unfinished checkout per device, so abandoned checkouts are counted once. Only a one-way hash of it is sent. | Analytics and performance | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Stay Pass visit session (cg_stay_session_id) | Counts repeated Stay Pass opens in one tab as one visit. | Analytics and performance | Session storage | First party | Until the tab closes |
| Booking type step marker (cg:booking-type-handoff) | Stops one choice on the What are you booking? step from being counted twice when the page changes. | Analytics and performance | Session storage | First party | Removed on the next page |
| Session recording | Records a small sample of page sessions, with all text and images hidden, so we can see how a page broke. Never runs on checkout or Stay Pass pages. | Analytics and performance | Session storage | Third party | Until the tab closes, 15 minutes idle |
| Page performance measurement | A performance monitoring service that measures page load speed and counts page views. It stores nothing in your browser. | Analytics and performance | Network request | Third party | Not stored |
4.4 Marketing
Record which campaign or website sent you to a booking page, and load the advertising and measurement tags a park adds to its website.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Type | Party | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Campaign source (cg:attribution:<park>) | Remembers the campaign link or website that first sent you to a park's booking page, and attaches it to your booking so the park can see which campaigns work. | Marketing | Local storage | First party | Until you clear site data |
| Purchase measured (cg:purchase-fired:<reservation>) | Stops a park's advertising tags from counting the same booking twice when the confirmation page reloads. | Marketing | Session storage | First party | Until the tab closes |
| Park advertising and measurement tag cookies | Set by advertising and measurement tags a park chooses to add to its website, to measure visits and bookings from the park's ads and to show the park's ads elsewhere. | Marketing | Cookie | Third party | Up to 2 years |
| Park advertising and measurement tags | Loads the advertising and measurement tags a park adds to its website, which share your visit with those advertising services. | Marketing | Network request | Third party | Not stored by the request itself |
5. How consent works
Nothing beyond strictly necessary until you opt in. When you first open a page this policy covers, we ask for your choice in a banner at the bottom of the page, and the page waits behind the banner until you choose. Until then, only strictly necessary cookies and technologies are active. Nothing in the Functional, Analytics and performance, or Marketing categories loads, runs or stores anything on your device. Whatever you choose, including Reject All, the page then works normally.
Equal choices. The banner offers Accept All, Reject All and Customize. Reject All is as easy as Accept All: it is one click, the same size and as prominent. Customize lets you turn each optional category on or off; every optional category starts off. Pressing Escape never counts as a choice.
Per website. Your choice applies to the website address where you made it. A park's own domain, a park address we provide, and campguide.app each ask separately, and the booking widget on a park's website asks inside the widget.
Proof of consent. When you make a choice we record which categories you allowed, the version of this policy and of the banner you saw, where you made the choice (the banner, the Customize panel, the Cookie settings link, or your browser's privacy signal), the time, the website and page, a random consent id, a shortened form of your IP address that does not identify your device, and the general type of browser. We never store your full IP address with this record. If you later make a booking from the same browser, we link that consent id to your booking record so the park and we can show what you chose.
When we ask again. We ask again when this policy changes in a way that affects your choices, and 12 months after your last choice.
6. Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page this policy covers. It opens the same panel as Customize.
When you turn a category off, we delete the cookies and stored data that our pages set for that category, stop session recording, remove any optional code that was loaded, and nothing in that category loads again. Cookies that another service set on its own domain cannot be removed by our pages; you can clear them in your browser.
You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary items can stop bookings, payments or sign-in from working. Clearing your browser's site data also clears your recorded choice, so we will ask again.
7. Global Privacy Control and opt-out preference signals
If the browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. Marketing cookies stay off and cannot be turned on while the signal is on, we record that the signal was received, and we still ask you about the other optional categories.
Sale and sharing under California law. We do not sell personal information. Strictly necessary, Functional, and Analytics and performance items are not a sale or sharing of personal information. The Marketing category includes advertising and measurement tags a park can add to its website, which share information about your visit with advertising services; under California law that can be "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. Those tags load only if you allow Marketing cookies, never when the browser sends Global Privacy Control, and you can switch them off at any time with Cookie settings. The campaign source item in the Marketing category stays with CampGuide and the park and is not shared with advertising services.
8. Your rights in different regions
United States. Residents of states with privacy laws, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and others, can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, as described in Section 7, and have the further rights described in Section 24 of our Privacy Policy.
Canada. Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and in Quebec under the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector as amended by Law 25, we ask for your consent before using any technology that identifies, locates or profiles you, and every such technology is off until you turn it on. You can withdraw consent at any time. Commercial electronic messages are governed by Canada's anti-spam legislation, as described in Section 25 of our Privacy Policy; nothing in this policy sends you messages.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. We use strictly necessary cookies because the service you asked for cannot work without them, and every other cookie or similar technology only with your consent, which you can withdraw as easily as you gave it. Your rights over your personal information, and the right to complain to your data protection authority, are described in Section 26 of our Privacy Policy.
Guests should send requests about information a park holds about them to that park; CampGuide will help the park respond.
9. How long we keep things
Cookies and stored data. Each item's duration is in the tables in Section 4. Items marked "Until the tab closes" are removed when you close the browser tab.
Consent records. We keep a record of a choice that allowed any optional category for 2 years from when you made it. We keep a record of a choice that refused or withdrew consent for 5 years, longer than an allowing choice, so we can always show that we respected a refusal. Records are deleted automatically when their period ends, together with any link between that consent id and a booking.
10. Content from other services
Some content on these pages comes from other services, and it only loads after you allow the category it belongs to:
- Display fonts (Functional) are loaded from a font service. Without Functional cookies, pages use fonts already on your device.
- Embedded videos in a park's guidebook (Functional) play from video services in their privacy-enhanced modes. Until you allow Functional cookies, the video shows a placeholder and no request is made to the video service.
- Page performance measurement and session recording (Analytics and performance) load only after you allow that category, and session recording never runs on payment pages or in Stay Pass.
- A park's advertising and measurement tags (Marketing) load only after you allow Marketing cookies on that park's website.
The payment step. When you reach a payment form, our payment processor's card form, bank security check and fraud prevention load, together with the processor's fraud prevention cookies. These are strictly necessary for paying safely and load whatever you chose, but only on pages where you can pay, never on pages without a payment form. Card details go directly to our payment processor and are never stored by CampGuide. A security check from our hosting provider can also run before a booking is submitted to block automated abuse.
A list of the providers we use is available on request at support@campguide.app.
11. Children
These pages are intended for adults booking stays, rooms, beds, rentals and services. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, as described in Section 28 of our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to this policy
This is version 2026-10-15 of this policy. When we change it, we publish the new version here with a new version number. When a change affects the choices you made, we ask for your choice again the next time you visit, and until you choose, only strictly necessary items are active. A copy of a previous version is available on request.
